Apparently we can only have 2 loans? I highly suspect Sarmiento will be one, Omari maybe another but it looks like Chelsea want to run the rule over him - he has been recalled already and maybe goes on their pre-season tour before they make a decision on him.

Dubious about this, he signed a 5 year deal on £100k a week in 2022, apparently we would offer him £77k a week - which would surely be a massive amount to commit (4m a year on 1 player), likely need a big transfer fee too - and how would others on much less feel if he then doesn't do the business?

It would be some coup though, I rate him as a solid lower premier league striker.

Ipswich won promo from League One, & then promo from the Championship......., now expecting Top 4 EPL......, so if he's nae good for the Gooners, he's nae good for the mighty TB's!!

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Tried to think of players at Prem clubs who might be available...don't have insane salaries etc, some are academy players so offer pure profit for selling clubs:
Smith-Rowe, fringe player but still shown premier league quality
Diallo - maybe they are tempted to cash in a bit on a fringe player
Bryan Gil - seems surplus to requirements
Ben Johnson - out of contract I think, has been an OK RB for West Ham, not sure we need a RB as a priority though
Hmm, its VERY slim picking, I've been through all the prem squads and most are on 50k+ a week so rules out alot, i.e Matt Target would be a decent signing but he is on 100k.

The little lads in Town shirts celebrating is absolutely fantastic, and that is how it spreads and grows. Ipswich Town are backhallamblue wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 3:09 pmNot sure where to put this link , so here it is ...

I agree and tbh you can find some hidden gems out there. All well and good to get guys from Prem teams, but as I have said before, need to expand our horizons a bit when it comes to recruiting(I.e. looking at players from the Allvenskan, Eredivisie, etc).

Could K McK re-ignite Dele Ali's career? Just asking but Everton are looking to move him on.

He's a troubled lad, at one time I'd have jumped at the chance, now however I think I'd sooner have Muhammad Ali

I know he's had serious personal/mental (bad depression) problems but I was reading an interview with his mentor at MK Dons who thought he was ready to play again and I'd have thought if anybody in football could do it and be the right manager for him it's Kieran.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
As harsh as it might sound, the question might be, can Town afford to carry a player with problems in a PL 25 man squad? The club will need every player in the squad , good to go. Another player that could do a job for us but is not in a good place is Brandon Williams…. We cant afford to risk it I think, when a few months imt9 the season, we suddenly don’t have the player to call on. Which is exactly what happened with Williams.

Exactly - too much overhead there.
He may bounce back one day but it’s not happened yet.
To be fair I thought Ross Barkley has done OK at Luton, different situation but he is another player who had fallen from grace a bit.
I also know Ashton also always talks about how important a player’s character is - suspect they feel red faced about how it’s gone with Brandon Williams, and wouldn’t want any more agro.

I agree. We have a good squad here who play really well together and don't need to mess up that camaderie with the wrong kind of player. With that being said, I do think we need some more steel and some older heads out there to help out the young guys.
Adam Lallana has been reported as not going back to Brighton. Maybe an option? I know 36 years old now, but still pretty decent I believe. Even if just as a good depth piece.
Interesting times ahead this window and if we want to stay up and take some scalps along the way, will have to have an A+ window.
We shall see.

Not good enough for the prem now, you need legs/energy in midfield so I wouldn’t take him. I think his injury record is poor too.
I think we have enough older players - Morsy is a real leader, Masimo, Axel is experienced and seems mature. If you then have the right coaches like Some Aluko driving standards too then that’s enough for me.
I’d also imagine players like Chaplin and Burges are very good pro’s too.
Fully agree we need a very good window, the step up is going to be massive.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
what I'm really noticing now watching these PL games , with a view to how we'd cope , is just how fast the players are . They probably can all sprint sub 10 secs for a 100 meters. Our current squad is woefully slow by comparison.

They are fast and the pace of the game is quick now. Trust me thought none of them would run a sub 10 second 100m, but I get your point .hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:18 amwhat I'm really noticing now watching these PL games , with a view to how we'd cope , is just how fast the players are . We do have some pace / ball carriers, but agree we need more and it showed how athletic some of the Leeds front line were during that 4-0 game we had against them.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
As Don Goodman has stated we need to build from the back so 2 quality centre-backs plus another Left wing-back we must have a solid defence and quality midfield then we can set about the front line which I think will be sorted out last.
We must also have a huge clear out of players who we feel won't make the grade in the premiership. There is no room for sentiment now, I have my doubts about Wolfie, Clarke, Hirst, Broadhead, Edmundson, Harness, Jackson, Taylor, and Ball, what do you all think?

This is going to be a fun transfer period no matter what happens. I am reading all the gossip, and y’all are posting fascinating articles on rumors and finances. I can’t help but remember my first post on this forum was whether we could land Michael Chopra or not. My how far we have come!

I think people like Hirst, Broadhead, Edmundson and Wolfie may become the backup options, certainly won't be moved on. I'm thinking a 50/50 mix of new players and current players for the prem squad next season, it gives half the squad hope of game time, yet also brings in some better quality. Hope that makes sense? I/e we aren't replacing all of you but only the better ones will be playing...Denny61 wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 11:10 pmAre you having me on .yes ball and Jackson but others have done alright and can make the step up .. we need to keep the togetherness and the spiritashfordblue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 10:04 pmAs Don Goodman has stated we need to build from the back so 2 quality centre-backs plus another Left wing-back we must have a solid defence and quality midfield then we can set about the front line which I think will be sorted out last.

That’s exactly my thinking too shabba. I think McKenna will want the spine of the team PL standard, but the changes / additions will be done respectfully to those players that have got us where we currently are. But changes will have to be made, as there unfortunately is no room for sentiment, as the Club will upgrade.shabba wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 9:23 amI think people like Hirst, Broadhead, Edmundson and Wolfie may become the backup options, certainly won't be moved on.
