Peter Reid
Plenty of rumours circulating on social media that Peter Reid is considering joining the management team at Portman Road, what are peoples thoughts about this ?

And here is a photo….
But its only an advisory role. For example after yesterday, Peter would’ve “advised” Paul to kick morsys arse for falling like a wet blanket.
And err……. Peter & Paul? Too much ammo for the yellow budgies there.

I hope Reidy doesn’t advise the players to just jog after opponents like he did against Maradona for his second goal in that 86 WC QF.
Cook and Reid are apparently good mates so not sure if he’s working for us. Maybe getting some free corporate hospitality.

and Bonne is his new Priskin, he was always such a big fan.
Not sure how relevant Reid is to the modern game, but that's only tiny for or against comment I can make!

Oh dear, no. “MacBonne & The Tampon” shouldn't ever be in the same sentence.

Re: Peter Reid
Can only be a win-win situation in my eyes. Didn't realise that Reid had been involved with PC at Wigan and to have that level of go to to experience behind you must only benefit a team! It could be argued he has been out of the big picture for 5 years, but the football knowledge he could pass to players is vast. 7 seasons managing at "hire and fire at will" Sunderland is quite notable too.
All in all, yes I definitely welcome this potential appointment.

Re: Peter Reid
From that ^^^^
Quote:
Last month, when quizzed as to whether he was missing the influence of his long-term assistant manager Leam Richardson, who opted to take on the Wigan managerial job full-time, Cook said: "We've got a great belief in making the club better. If we feel that experience should come in (to help the coaching team), I'd be all for it. I'd be all for anything that makes this football club better."
Unquote.
Is that answering the question, Cookie? Are you basically saying here that many on the TB Forum are correct and you are indeed flapping without Leam?
What a stupid reply to that question.

He does seem to pick his staff from a certain pool. Like anyone from Liverpool. TBH…. Liverpool is a football-mad city which is up there with Borrussia Dortmund.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 2:40 pmCan only be a win-win situation in my eyes. Re: Peter Reid
The more I think about the more I’m convinced that Peter Reid joining Town would be a ridiculous appointment. In the past 15 years his involvement in football had only been bit part and much of it irrelevant to modern day League 1 football. I hope this is only a speculative rumour with little foundation.

Re: Peter Reid
I watched Reid for years as a player, played a pivotal part in Kendall's great team of the mid-1980's but once he left and went into management kind of lost interest. Seems to have been off-radar for many a year since leaving Sunderland, why would he want to come here (now) and take a job ? It makes no discernable logic.
I know Jeffers is now part of the club set-up, another ex-player you can clearly remember and viewed. Still not entirely sure why we brought him in, believe it's within a coaching capacity. Reid again, guess his part would be to offer Cook advice on team matters and assist with motivation but as before it's not something the club really needs to entertain.

Brett and Ashton obviously enjoying themselves. Peter Reid really needs to cheer up. George Burley maybe more interested into getting into the drinks cabinet.

Re: Peter Reid
Tangfastic, but on a serious note, what is Burley all about in that photo? Is it extreme delayed reaction to the goal…… or is it Alzheimers? Jaysus H.

Re: Peter Reid
My bet would be Burley and Reid were on their devices and had just looked up, either that or Johnson has predicted the goal far sooner than the others and has just jumped on Ashton's foot

Re: Peter Reid
Bloody hell, you’re right, Ricco, ……. It looks like they are on their devices! Didn’t notice that.
Not sure if Reid & Burley pay to get in or not, (not bothered one way or the other)……. but regular punters on their phones during a game? How annoying is that? Especially derbies. Why go?
You got mates who couldnt get tickets and some people close by aren't even watching….. they're on their phones!

Re: Peter Reid
That is society in general now. People are f**king obsessed with their phones. Some are never off them, they really need to get a life, it's sad.

Mike, it is their f**king lives. Sad indictment of how today has become when you see kids what, six or seven years old with a device or older generations waiting in queue to purchase a thirty second item. Understand the frustrations, it's a f**king nuisance far now than what the manufacturers ever tried to intend.
In any event viewed the below picture for the first time and only just recognized Reid. Couldn't quite believe has aged since last seen, or the apparent disinterest to a goal from our team. Almost like "what I am doing here", maybe he's the not the most joyous of individuals but appeared to register zero emotion at such a pivotal stage of game. Burley too, somewhat indifferent to action.

Re: Peter Reid
It is a great photo, but it got me thinking whoever took that was maybe not looking at the goalmouth action at the time. By the time a cameraman switched to the directors box after the goal, there’d probably be a flicker of emotion on Reid’s face and people would be calming down.

Re: Peter Reid
Ah, Sherlock……. So its 20 or 30 seconds AFTER the goal…… yep, could be. Would definitely explain Burley. Not sure Reid would GAF if Ipswich scored or not.
