Re: Top Six - Bottom Three
Its such a tough question Mike, we got used to L1 where it was in some way easier to pick the top and bottom sides.
I think the bottom three is probably about right, although there is always a projected mid table team that seems to implode in the Championship each season.
Teams like Blackburn, WBA, Watford, Budgies and even Millwall could be contenders for top 6.
I think Sunderland is perhaps a good example of where we could be next season as they are basically a year ahead of us in the recovery stakes.
It would be great to be straight into the promotion hunt this season, but I am just a bit more cautious than I usually am in regards to this season.
We dominated some L1 sides last season, but we couldn't put them away.
The thing I am wary of is a few injuries like Woolfie, Chaplin, Morsy being out for awhile could really leave some gaps that wouldn't be easy to fill.
I think we will be mid table and build for next season.
I demand you prove me wrong btw.

I also think Cardiff, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday & Preston will find it tough this season.
I also don't think Coventry will be anywhere near where they were last season, lost some good players, Millwall too, probably looking at Mid table.

Re: Top Six - Bottom Three
I don't think Southampton will be as high as many have predicted, they don't score enough goals. I'm thinking more mid-table like Marko suggests. I can see Leeds challenging for top two along with Leicester...if Farke is able to fix Leeds' defensive woes. He may just have to rely on counter attacking football with a few high scoring matches. Middlesbrough should be in the top six mix with their strong finish, and Sunderland will be challenging also. Once again, I think we'll be there too unless we sustain too many injuries and fail to acquire defensive back ups. With Swansea's new attacking options, I can see them scoring more. They had a healthy goal tally for their final position, and if the new acquisitions are improvements they may well be a handful.

If only this were an SPL predictor, sure would be hell more easier to complete. In any event :
#1 West Bromwich Albion
#2 Middlesbrough
#3 Southampton
#4 Millwall
#5 Watford
#22 Bristol City
#23 Rotherham
#24 Hull
We ourselves, consolidation after the promotion season. Guess around 7th , 8th place. It's a fair estimation, not expecting great things so soon after making it back.

Re: Top Six - Bottom Three
The 2023/2024 Championship season kicks off today, with Sheffield Wednesday v Southampton. A promoted team v a relegated team should make this an interesting match, hopefully not a blow out. I won't be surprised if Southampton's goal struggles continue, and SW are the winners. It'll be like a cup final for Wednesday, while Southampton will feel additional pressure to begin the campaign with confidence.

The Saints have dominated possession, and SW look clueless. A quick goal from Southampton in the 2nd half will indeed prove Bluemike’s prediction right. We’ll see as they say…

Mods? Any chance we can put a 'sticky' on this thread, so we can easily find it during the season?
