Bollocks Leeds drawn level 2-2 ⚽️

Poor defending by Watford. 5 mins to pay + added time and it’s all Leeds.

Watford really are under the cosh. Poor substitution by Watford, as soon as Dennis went off the game changed in Leeds favour.

Big problem ahead, Watford and Middlesbrough did the damage against Leeds and Southampton and we play both in our final 7 games. We also go to Norwich and Coventry who are ranked 3rd and 4th immediately behind Leeds and ourselves in the form table since the beginning of January.

It certainly isn’t going to be easy.

A great day for Town but all four top teams were below par but it worked out well for us.COYB.

Think today showed yet again that there will be no easy games for any of the teams going for automatic promotion between now and the end of season. Think there will still be a few twist and turns before it is all over and it will be interesting to see how we react to being hunted rather than being the hunter.

Southampton looked awesome today creating so many chances playing some fantastic football but failing to convert them. This morning they still fancied their chances of joining the race for the second auto promotion place but after dropping points today their chances have taken a massive dent. They will see Monday as last chance saloon and a must win game, similar for us but we’ll still be in it whatever the result. Maybe that makes it less pressure for us, plus we have home and crowd advantage.

As I see it all four top teams underperformed today but we picked up maximum points whilst the others didn’t. The teams who win this fascinating promotion race will be the two teams who best manage the pressure. Hopefully Kieran McKenna will be the manager who best to deal with that.

Yes but we were the only top five team to win.

Yes not greatest game, yes we rode our luck but who cares?

We grounded it out, we know Ipswich can play lot better and no doubt we will but for now lets just be proud and happy

Three things for Monday:

Imo if Town manage to beat Southampton on Monday (Big if) and Leeds win too that's it for the autos for Southampton - they wouldn't be able to make up 12 points in 8 games

Leicester have hit a run of poor form at just the wrong time - a home loss to Norwich would really ring the alarm bells as far as their hopes for an automatic place go

Leeds should take three points fairly easily against an indifferent Hull side at Elland Road

As Nigel Pearson says yesterday there’s no point trying to work out what you might need to do based on other teams results as every game is totally unpredictable at this time of the season. Yesterday was a classic example of that.
Almost certainly the two teams that win automatic promotion will be the two that best deal with the pressure and are able to focus solely on the preparation and match day one game at a time with no interest in what others are doing. I think that’s actually how McKenna operates which is good to know.

Yeah totally. But isn't this thread all about the other teams in relation to Town?

And yes McKenna has said all along it's game by game. To follow his logic through to its natural conclusion, he isn't aware his team are currently top of the league, but I highly doubt that! 😉

I looked at all the fixtures for the top four with my dad today. Some massive games for all of us, however as he rightly said - some of the opposition might be no longer playing for anything by the time some of those games come round - ie teams who have no longer have hope of play offs - but some could still be chasing survival.

It’s going to be very interesting and a week to week rollercoaster.
