It’s not Canvey Island Marko but you’re definitely getting closer.

It’s not Gillingham either, but I think Canvey was closer than Gillingham.

This clue gives it away ...
The Manager of this football club is a scouser who used to play for Ipswich

Re: What three words represent this football club?
Am guessing this has to be Non-league? Really struggling to come up with scousers who have played for Town. Paul Mason sprang immediately to mind, but drawing blanks beyond that (though there are probably countless names ). Not sure where the aforementioned former player is these days.
Only estuary club name that springs to mind is Harwich & Parkeston and cannot truthfully say i know what non-league level they ply their trade at. (Trying not to use a search engine to solve clues, but to rely on my (limited) knowledge bank.

Is it Colchester? And was the scouser manager, John McGreal, who’s not there anymore.

Re: What three words represent this football club?
Yes it is Colchester United and I’d no idea John McGreal had been given the boot. I tried to make it easy for Marko as he remembered I’d lived in Leicester, I thought he might also remember I spent 13 years in Colchester in the Layer Road days.tangfastic wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 10:50 amIs it Colchester? Maybe the 3 words should have been; oyster. houseboat. stadium....... that would have made it easier.
Over to you Tang.

Honestly didn't realize Colchester was on an estuary. Goes to show how long I've been away from the UK.

I’ve dipped in and out of this game - briefly, what are the rules? Does every word have to be a clue? And how did you get from the 3 words to Colchester?Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 4:48 pmYes it is Colchester United and I’d no idea John McGreal had been given the boot. Re: What three words represent this football club?
A club playing in the Professional English or Scottish leagues, and clubs in top flight European leagues. Think you will find it nigh on impossible to find all three words which offer clues on a club, so even a single word which can link is acceptable. If by scouring the squares across the pitch you can only find a loose link, then maybe a clue is best, i.e part of the country (north east etc.).tangfastic wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 6:10 pm

Re: What three words represent this football club?
I kind of like the approach of selecting words with the what3words app, that's what inspired the quiz to begin with. Granted many of the word combinations usually have little significance to the actual club, but that's where clues come into play. Agree we should probably stick with professional football.

Notts County, can’t be warmer than that, they’re only across the River Trent, just a decent kick away.

Re: What three words represent this football club?
Just to keep things rolling, i have a 3 word clue which i have been sitting on for several days.
tender.oldest.bank
Two of the above words link (along with the clues below) to a club.
The club (according to my research) can hold claim to one of the above words on two counts;
1. referring to the club in regards to its status among other clubs in the area
2. Refers to a part of the stadium.
The other link word; "there is one of these very near the ground, but you can't draw out money from it!

Notts County would seem the obvious answer. Did a deal with Juventus years back, provided them with team colors, stadium is on or near the river Trent and it's the oldest recognized club in the UK. Failing that I don't know.

Sorry SJ, not Notts County. Certainly on the right lines with the clues, albeit not the location.saint jude wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 2:17 pmNotts County would seem the obvious answer.
