A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

After ALL these years? Finally finding out the USA connection. Yer pap is / was a yankee doodle dandy.
Great stuff.
my step brothers dad is from Boston, those americans based over here in the war with their chocs and tights had a lot to answer to,
is there a connection with Number 8 somehow.
I'm sure there's some who may question masculinity of red feathered hats as well, Wolfie?!
Seriously though, I worked with the Royal Fusiliers in Bosnia. They're a tough lot for sure!
i guess you read that wrong General 9.. when i said
"chocs and tights" it was a reference to the Americans stationed over here during the war
supplying our woman with everything they needed, while the husbands were away fighting a war defending this country,
didn't actually mean wearing them themselves
, unless you know something else,

Speaking of the Royal Fusiliers I think I've told this story before, but it's worth telling again. In Bosnia I was documenting a repatriation effort in a predominantly Serbian area. To make a long story short, the Serbs did not want the Bosniaks to move back into the neighborhoods after the cease fire. A rather aggressive group of Serbs gathered to prevent the Bosniaks from moving back in, so the Stabilization Force had sent a Royal Fusiliers regiment to aid the repatriation. One of the Serbs had parked his car in the road blocking the only entrance into the neighborhood, and negotiations had been ongoing for hours. During the whole process I noticed the Fusiliers' commander was getting more and more frustrated about the situation, but the Serb wouldn't move his car. So finally, the commander approached the man and basically said if you don't move your car we will remove it for you. The Serb still refused to move his car, and the commander gave the order. A few minutes later the Fusiliers drove their armored vehicle over the car and flattened it...and pushed the car to the side. As the Serb group stood to the side, the Fusiliers escorted the Bosniaks back to their homes.
Brilliant!
Nice one
Short story about when i worked for a co. back in 2000. New guy started and he was ex military. Had been in that very war, Yugoslavia early 90s.
I was with an apprentice in Livingston at a job. Iโd called the office to say we needed a help out to get the job finished. Guy in office said heโd send out the new guy.
I said to apprentice, โdonโt be asking any stupid daft questions to Michael when he gets here.โ
We were sitting on the floor having our lunch.
Conv went like this:
Me: โHow you doing since joining the company?โ
Him: โYeah not bad. Big difference from life in the army.โ
Wee Stu: โYe kill anybody in Bosnia?โ

no I didnt have to go right over there, i was in Threadneedle street , London,
I got a contract to supply the beers for the workers on this building site when they finished the first phase,
anyway when i was setting up the security boss said they had to keep the Serbs ? and Bosnians apart as they would kill each other on this site,
So i set up two different bar areas for each group, with around 50 security between each bar. we had to serve 4 pints each to around 200 Serb and Bosnian labourers, ( think they were Serbs, Croations, or whoever,
So cutting a long story short i was a peacekeeper between those two feuding factions
.

Ouch, that sounds painful Liz, best to live in the warm then, I'm getting more bionic myself now so know how painful it gets especially in the winter,
Wish you well.

NICE! Now that's what the olympics is all about, Wolfie. Guys falling off their tea-tray @ 70MPH, skiers flying off piste at 100MPH into a Pine forest and fights in the Ice Hockey. Awesome

yeah if that's the snow boarding thing i was watching that, quite impressive
what put me off trying Skiing was back in the day at the airport you used to see all these folk departing for Austria etc looking happy.
then in arrivals you'd see all these folk on crutches, in wheel chairs, bandages on their heads, coming back,
I used to think " they actually paid good money for that.
