Old Pictures of PORTMAN ROAD, & Ipswich.

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Managed to take a closer look at these great pics.

The matchday programme, Ipswich v Sartid Smederevo ........ Current Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield in the Ipswich team? Didn't know he ever played for Town.

And that Ipswich v Barca programme front cover........ Looks like Town asked Roger Federer to do the pre kick off honours.

And Wolfie..... I know that pic 2 down from the top is a big test......., those are Brum fans. 👌

A great character as well. Often used to see him and Micky Quinn together at the racecourse. both great laughs,

Wee Eric Gates. Phenomenal. Was my very favourite @ Portman Road, ahead of all the Scotsmen. Hated seeing him in a Sunderland shirt

Nice memories of The Hansen & Miller Show vs USSR. 🤦‍♂️
If that doesn’t happen, it’s second phase time for Scotland.
Willie Miller is a regular on BBC Scotland Sportsound on Saturdays……., he's sometimes reminded of that. 👍

always remember playing for this team in a league well out of our depth, used to lose heavily every week, anyway the manager jacked it in and this fella from Glasgow took over, he banned us from smoking while training and before a match, the first week we lost 0 - 25  this tough looking Scot made an excuse the following week that he had cut himself shaving and packed the job in,bl****y Wimp
our best result that season was a 4 - 9 loss to the local home school,

Surprised the man from Glasgow was doing the banning, Wolfie. Normally he’d turn up with 20 Regal King Size and a Tartan Special carry out.

yeah this fella turned up looking like Desperate Dan with an accent, when he said "put them fags out" being like 14yrs old you did,
but when he couldn't turn up the following Sat because he'd cut himself shaving think any street gred he had was was stumped out with the cigs

Anyway doing my Sherlock impersonating and the lack of Town fans local knowledge i sussed this out.
looking at this pic again I can never remember seeing a pic of Portman Rod with a stand roof like this.

Created in Dundee i think. 🤔 The Dandy comic mag was a Dundee thing. They’ve got the statues up there. Nice to look at while trying not to be stabbed.
