I love the Champions league when it gets to the knockout stages. It can be predictable, but every now again you’ll see a quality match.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
Not looking good for the two EPL teams 9. Arsenal just gone one down and Man City also still trailing 0-1 since conceding early.
I can’t imagine a Champions League Semi Final without an English team present, apparently it’s only happened once since 2916/17.

What I find really fascinating is that Real Madrid seem really good at sitting back and defending, yes they have good players but I’d have thought it’s very rare they have to do much defending most weeks in the league etc. not their natural game etc.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
The masters of the Champions League have done it again against a Man City team that controlled most of the game in open play. Unfortunately a couple of shocking penalties cost them in the shoot out. Bernardo Silva’s penalty in particular is a classic example of a player not staying calm and focused because I bet he’s not hit a worse penalty in his career. That’s what pressure can do and that’s exactly why promotion chasing players struggle to score goals at this time of the season and it has nothing to do with the manager.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
Well potentially all Premier League teams could get knocked out of Europe today. Villa’s in extra time, so they could survive. Not a good avert for the Premier League, I say?

Looks like Cardiff team is decimated by illness and injury so that’s another win for Saints on Sat!

If they were spry and healthy, Southampton would still win.hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:42 pmLooks like Cardiff team is decimated by illness and injury so that’s another win for Saints on Sat!

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
I guess we might want them to win va Cardiff, then they will really go for a win vs Leicester - and we want them to drop points more than saints perhaps?
Especially if saints are then still in with a shout when they play Leeds last game, ie ‘ideally’
Leicester fall off, we do well and then saints and Leeds fight it out final day for the other auto spot.
Whatever happens we need to take care of our own business, then it doesn’t matter what others do.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
As I said yesterday, our best hope is for Southampton to lose at Leicester, but only on the proviso they win at Leeds United on the final day.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
Mind you, football is a funny ole game. With the odds stacked in Saints favour, it’d be typical that they slip up!number 9 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:09 pmIf they were spry and healthy, Southampton would still win.hallamblue wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:42 pmLooks like Cardiff team is decimated by illness and injury so that’s another win for Saints on Sat!

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
How the absolute f*ck are Leicester winning, 3 goal line clearances and now West Brom have hit the post and missed a sitter from one yard. Leicester's day I'm afraid and they will win even with over 40 minutes to go

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
Disagree mate, that will only apply if the others drop points, if they don't we'll be fourth and under loads of pressure to win at tough places, I honestly feel this has done our chances of top Two

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
I think the pressure is getting to you Mike! There is still very much a chance that they will all drop points before we play (Boro away for Leeds won't be easy and S'ton at a Leicester team playing this sporadically is very likely to be a draw for them at best). Time will tell but I think McKenna will have their feet in the ground and focus in the right areas - he has done it more often than not this season. Regardless, we can't do anything about it so lets see what happens...

We'll see, and I hope you're right, all I know is the way we've played last 5 or 6 games won't be good enoughBlue Wilf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 2:00 pmI think the pressure is getting to you Mike! Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
I've been all over the Boreham Wood v Ebbesfleet game. Relegation decider from the NAT league for both those clubs. Very much a Gravesend & Northfleet fan, (Ebbesfleet)......, 0-0 draw secures status. Very well done indeed after a roller coaster season.

Yep, agreed. Hull game will have incredible pressure attached to it.

Re: NON IPSWICH MATCHES
If leeds drop points at Boro .And maybe Leicester beat the saints. And Leeds draw on last day with saints .that be our best hope
