I guess it's a strategy to try and keep us up for now, so loans are surely the only realistic options, as Hallam says who could we really sign in January ?

Murphy was a one-hit wonder, I wouldn't choose to bring him back on board. As others have put it, we're hardly an attraction proposal for any potential transfers. Contracts as mentioned, aren't worth the paper they're scribbled on (and are there to be broken.)
January window should provide an element of interest. No-one's expecting anything fancy, only a few names with the capabilities to make a difference to the team particularly in key areas that should hopefully avert any fall into lower league. The season's basically something of a write-off, Lambert will target stability for the immediate time ahead and focus greater extent during the next close season.

At least the guy talks sense.....
a) ...bring in players who know this league
b)....don’t try bringing in too many players at the same time
What a shame Marcus Evans didn’t stop Paul Hurst from doing exactly the opposite...and we all know where that got him.

Hopefully it’s a biggish list. Because it’ll fast become a small list. Please make there be a chance of 3 - 4 real additions.

Below are links to players out of contact this summer for prem and champ - I assume this is the kind of player we will be looking for in jan:
Champ:

Prem:

Re: Lambert hands Evans his .....
Would instantly dismiss any potential names from the EPL category. For one thing the club won't play out 10,000,000 for the cheapest available options, furthermore some of the purported prices would seem exaggerated in the extreme for some of the players listed.
That leaves the more feasible alternative of Championship names and you got players listed such as (I drew up a shortlist) Huddlestone, Morrison, Brunt, Adam and Campbell - but all beyond (now) thirty years of age and requesting transfer fees some would argue aren't at all justified.

I hadn't seen that in truth. In any event having (now) taken into consideration the overlooked information, have come up with at least five potential candidates and reason for interest.
#1 Jagielka (Defensive Midfield/ Center Back) Versatile unit already familiar with. Possesses experience and a variety of knowledge. 36 years of age is a risk, but at one and a half million suggested, it would appear a good deal. Worth investigating if needs be.
#2 Cech Reliable goalkeeper out of contract with Chelsea in the time ahead. Has the experience and knows what it takes to win. Three Million would seem too much for some as is the 36 years of age. Others however would plead it's something to consider. Has won just about everything there is to win in the game at EPL level, perhaps a move to the Championship League in the twilight of his career could present a viable alternative.
#3 Bardsley For some reason this name stands out. Another player beyond thirty but one and a half million would appear satisfactory. Could prove to a valuable member of the squad if given the opportunity. Plays right back invariably.
#4 Boruc If not Cech, then could be good cover for both Bialkowski and Gerken. Probably has performed wonders to get Bournemouth where they are today and would seem a snip at the one million suggested price. 38 years of age is a concern however, depends how you view the longevity of certain players.
#5 Llorente Forward at Tottenham soon to be surplus to requirement. Seems an adequate player, able to recall being involved in goals here and there. 5 million is pushing it at this club in terms of expense but possesses perhaps some three - five years left in the game. 33 years of age.
#6 Gunnarsson Midfield unit that seems to hit the news now and again. A rare case of a target or acquisition under 30 years of age and for
the suggested 2.5 million would seem worth showing interest for. Can supply goals and be a worthwhile addition. Seemed a viable target if and when becoming a free agent.

And how exactly are we going to be able to pay the wages these fantasy players will demand ? Not one of the above would even consider coming to Ipswich. There is more chance Lord Lucan would be seen riding up Portman road on Shergar while holding a winning lotto ticket.saint jude wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 1:22 amI hadn't seen that in truth.
